Facts and Accomplishments

 

 

 

  • HAUCDC was created by the Houston Area Urban League in 2010 as a separate Nonprofit.

 

  • HAUCDC has administered an acquisition and rehabilitation single family homes program over the past 4 years, acquiring 75 abandoned, neglected and foreclosed properties in the Houston Area.  Sixty-five (65) percent of the buyers we have sold homes to are below 80% AMI and all were sold to households below 120% AMI.

 

  • HAUCDC administers a Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) without federal funds. and our policies and procedures are NSP formatted and HUD compliant. HAUCDC has sold or holds as an asset $6,500,000 of previously foreclosed, abandoned and neglected real estate

 

  • The most successful program of the organization has primarily served Veterans in partnership with other nonprofits.  To date discounts to U.S. Military Veterans have totaled more than $1,200,000. 

 

  • HAUCDC has provided $870,000 in down payment assistance to lower income buyers.

  • HAUCDC has received seven homes transferred to HAUCDC through the Houston-Galveston Council of Governments (HGAC) and the City of Houston’s Community Development Department via the Homeownership Opportunity Program (HOP).  Homes will be rebuilt and sold to households below 80% AMI as required by the source of funds, Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recover (CDBG-DR). 

 

  • Working with City of Houston Land Assemblage Redevelopment program to acquire 10 single vacant lots in Acres Homes, Third Ward and Fifth Ward.  HAUCDC will be building single family homes in 2017.

 

  • HAUCDC is a Certified Community Development Housing Organization (CHDO) in the City of Houston and City of Galveston.  We are currently working on acquiring two (2) single family homes in Galveston, both will be sold to households below 80% AMI. We also acquired five (5) in 2015- 2016. This is part of the Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME). 

 

  • HAUCDC is the Nonprofit participant in a Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) in the Altura Heights Rental Project located at 4911 W. Airport Blvd, Houston, TX 77085.  The Apartments are currently in Construction.  Also, we are the Nonprofit Partner in Garden Gate Apartments at 200400 FM 1485, New Caney, TX 77357, and we are looking for more opportunities. All LIHTC Multifamily Rental projects will serve households predominantly below 60% AMI.  

 

  •  HAUCDC is developing an innovative New Construction Program using Modular Construction and Shipping Containers for single family homeownership.
