Facts and Accomplishments
Houston Area Urban CDC (HAUCDC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in
2010 by the Houston Area Urban League. HAUCDC provides decent, affordable housing
for the workforce and other residents while stimulating investment and improving the
quality of life in communities. Based in Houston, TX but service area is a 100 mile radius
of organization office.
Real Estate Assets – Over the past ten years HAUCDC has sold or holds as an asset
$6,500,000 of previously foreclosed, abandoned, and neglected real estate in Southeast
Texas.
Single-Family Housing – HAUCDC has acquired, made any necessary repairs or
improvement and sold 91 residential single-family properties, with another 17 under
development. HAUCDC has held as long term rentals four single family homes
previously.
Multi-Family Housing - HAUCDC is the non-profit participant in a Low-Income Housing
Tax Credit (LIHTC) in the Altura Heights Rental Project in Southwest Houston and was a
partner in the Garden Gate Apartments located in New Caney Texas. Both multi-family
rental projects serve households predominantly below 60% of the area median income
(AMI). HAUCDC has served as the non profit general contractor on six rental
development in Central and Southeast Texas building over 700 rental units for lower
income households.
Veterans - HAUCDC successfully administered the Homes with Honor program that
served 40 U.S. Military Veteran led households purchase fully rehabilitated single family
homes from HAUCDC at a discount of more than $1,200,000.
Down payment Assistance - HAUCDC has provided over $1 Million in down payment
and closing cost assistance to lower-income buyers purchasing homes.
Housing Partners - HAUCDC offers a plethora of programs and services to help residents
throughout southeast Texas, including the City of Houston various programs such as the
Houston Land Bank Program. HAUCDC is currently a City of Houston and Fort Bend
County Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) Programs and
previously in the City of Galveston and City of Pasadena. HAUCDC is a nonprofit buyer
with the National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST) Program modeled as a Neighbor
Stabilization Program (NSP). HAUCDC primarily serves households in homeownership
between 60% and 120% of Area Median Income.
Locations – HAUCDC currently has properties in Houston’s neighborhoods, including
Acres Homes, Third Ward, Fifth Ward, and southwest Houston: as well as cities of
Richmond, Somerville, Orange, Beaumont, Hitchock, Texas City and City of Galveston.
HAUCDC staff and board have strong backgrounds in academia, regulatory environment,
and real estate practice, with abounding respect for residents and partners.
